Established in 1948, Cassell’s Hamburgers now resides in Los Angeles’s historic Hotel Normandie. J Lou Development and its team stepped in and revived the historic restaurant inside of Hotel Normandie while preserving the original furniture, signs and menu items. JLD modernized the restaurant and empathized the idea of staying true to its original principles.
When Alvin Cassell opened the restaurant, it became an iconic lunch counter in Los Angeles. Famously known for grinding fresh beef everyday, and making his own mayonnaise, his passion for the hamburger lives on and only using menu items that he can control. The essential secret of Cassell was that he was after perfection, nothing less, nothing more. Today, the soul of the restaurant stays true to to Al Cassell's original principles of being a hamburger shop with a focus on using quality premium beef and grounding it in house daily. All of our burgers are still cooked on his famous original crossfire broiler, ground with the original grinder, and pattied with the original press. We strive to preserve the "Cassell Hamburger" taste.
